The prices for the top tier of home broadband services have jumped a lot over the past couple of years, according to research by Xfinity.
While the company didn’t release exact figures, it found that average prices have increased by 8.5 per cent since last September.
“I am shocked by this,” said Alex Waugh, who works for Xfinfinity as an independent analyst.
“The price of a home broadband plan has increased by an incredible 60 per cent in just a year.”
“It is so obvious that consumers are being pushed into buying less bandwidth than they need,” said Waugh.
But he said the rise in prices was happening in a relatively quiet period.
“You don’t get this kind of price rise for very long,” he said.
The company didn
